Jerald Barnes

As Vice President of Global Security at Global Traveler LLC, Jerald Barnes oversees global security operations, risk mitigation strategies, and high-level investigations. With a distinguished career spanning decades in U.S. law enforcement, government service, and private sector security, he brings an unmatched level of expertise to the firm.

Since joining Global Traveler in May 2022, Jerald has played a crucial role in enhancing security programs, conducting quality control inspections, and strengthening client relationships. His leadership ensures that security assessments, executive protection, and investigative services meet the highest industry standards.

Before transitioning to the private sector, Jerald had a remarkable career with the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Diplomatic Security Service (DS). Over nearly 24 years with DS, he held key leadership positions, including:

• Senior Regional Security Officer (RSO) for four American embassies, managing critical security operations.
• Deputy Regional Security Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia, where he played a pivotal role in the investigations into the 9/11 hijackers from 2001 to 2003.
• Assistant Regional Security Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Paris, France, with extensive experience in Yemen during the first Gulf War.
• Acting Diplomatic Security Liaison Officer at U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) and later the permanent DS Liaison Officer to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) until his retirement in 2008.

Prior to his tenure with DS, Jerald served for nearly 15 years as a Washington, D.C., Police Officer and Detective, where he gained invaluable investigative and law enforcement experience.

Following his government service, Jerald transitioned to the private sector, where he has worked extensively across Africa and Asia. His expertise includes:

• Global risk mitigation and security assessments in high-threat environments.
• Executive protection for corporate leaders, diplomats, and high-profile individuals.
• Counter-terrorism strategies and intelligence operations.
• Developing and managing major local guard programs for embassies, corporate facilities, and government sites.
